Restoration, not replacement

In most cases your original sashes can be saved. Slow-grown Victorian and Edwardian timber is far denser and more durable than modern equivalents, and properly restored it will outlast any uPVC replacement. We repair rotten sections using traditional timber splices and Repair Care resin systems that bond invisibly to the existing wood — so you keep the original glass, the original frames, and the original character.

Finished in traditional linseed oil paint

Every window we restore is finished in traditional linseed oil paint. Unlike modern plastic-based paints that trap moisture — exactly the wrong thing for a coastal county facing the full force of Atlantic weather — linseed oil paint is breathable, flexible and deeply protective of the timber. It’s also the most authentic finish for a period property.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Much of Cornwall’s period housing sits within conservation areas, and many properties are listed. Even unlisted homes in conservation areas often have restricted permitted development rights for window replacement. Our restoration work satisfies both planning requirements and your own standards — and we’re happy to advise before you approach Cornwall Council’s planning department.
